Annual Alumni Meet -2005

Friends !
The purpose was met... For the first time, we had a congregation of about
100 alumni from outside Burla..... If you recall yr alumni day, you would
find only few engineers from OHPC Burla... This time, we had many from
NALCO, NTPC, RSP, L&T, BBSR, etc... Notable among them were Mr B Pradhan
(GM, NTPC), Mr B Mishra (DGM, RSP).... many of the retired professors too
had turned up...
The true picture of the college was presented... The future course of the
college was discussed at length... The plans for Golden Jubilee Year were
presented and finalized... Different committees were formed for the Golden
Jubilee Celebration... All pledged their help to build the GJ FUND and
execute the plans... The new office bearers were selected for the GJ
year... I shall outline the details in subsequent mail...
The key resolutions however were these.
(a) Accreditation paper shall be submitted to AICTE within a week.
(b) A team of alumni shall meet the Chancellor & CM with the major demand
for filling-up vacant staff posts (we have 44 staffs against approved
strength of 97), Society Registration ( that means restoring Autonomy &
coming out of BPUT) and Deemed University Status. Appointment shall be
sought soon after the papers are ready. If no result is achieved, the
association shall consider filing a PIL in the high court.
(c) While PM shall be invited for the Opening function at Burla, the
Honorable President of India shall be invited for the valedictory function
at Burla. We will also invite industry captains like Mr Anil Ambani, Mr
Kumar Mangalam Birla, Mr Narayan Murthy at different functions to be held
during the year. The subcentres at Angul, BBSR, Rourkela and one in south
Orissa (either Berhampur or Sunabeda) shall celebrate the Golden Jubilee in
different months. If any of the subcentres such as Chennai or Bangalore
also choses to celebrate the golden jubilee, it will be welcome.
The Open House discussion was followed by a fun-filled program on Mr Alumni
& Ms Alumni contest for final year... It was indeed very interesting...
Then there were two splendid dance performance by 3rd year girls...
Finally, the alumni visited the North Hostel where they saw the deplorable
conditions of the hostels & had one-to-one interaction with the
students....
Overall, it was an alumni day with a difference... It was a serious session
with deep level participation by many alumni.... All have assured to
mobilize fund..
I request all of you again to rise to this occasion and mobilze funds for
the Golden Jubilee Projects. Please forward me the e-mail / address of
other alumni and partcularly the inflential ones so that I can contact
them... I shall shortly send a scanned copy of the appeal of the alumni
association to benevolent organizations to contrbute to the Fund... Pl give
that to persons / organization of your influence and arrane some fund....
