A Step towards Deemed-to-be-University Status

Respected/Dear Alumni,

  All of you will be proud and happy to know that we have moved one step ahead with the tireless efforts of our alumni members and Teachers Association. Special thanks to the two secretaries, senior alumni members, MLAs and our local minister who have toiled day n night for the cause for the last few months.

  As per the direction of our Chief Minister, Industry Dept of Govt. of Orissa has shown interest to upgrade UCE, Burla to Deemed-to-be-University status by asking for the feasibility report to Biju Patnaik University Of Technology vide letter dated 21/06/2005. Our Principal has submitted the justification report to BPUT, which will be sent to Govt. Of Orissa with reference to the Govt. Letter. So hopefully we are going to be Deemed-to-be-University very soon.

A lot of developmental activities are going on in the college.

 (1) Already college has set up a 50PCs internet lab for students with all recent software pacakges in the vacation. Also another 50 PCs are ready to be installed in another well furnished lab withina couple of weeks.So we will have two labs with 100PCs in all exclussively for computing and internet facilities in addition to our old Central computing facility and Departmental Computing Facilities.

 (2) Also Placement figure for 2006 passouts have exceeded 60(sixty) till june 30th last.
 

 (3) Our alumni members in Metros have done a commendable job by arranging get-together and fruitful meetings to strengthen our network, which has never happened before. Kudos to their great efforts.


  Now time has come to start preparation for our Golden Jubilee Inaugural Function January-8th 2006.Your creative ideas and suggestions for the Celebration of inaugural function are most welcome.
