Remed......
yes..
as if some kinda
REMEDy was available to all the ills plaguing an
engineering student's life..
Be it .. the sessionals, the mid-sems, the end-sems,
the professor, the girl who has said aeons ago "I will think about it".. and
hasn't got back ...or maybe the lousy mess food......or (n sometimes bigger
reason being)...... the need to come out of a long 'dry' spell...
well there would be innumerable reasons and hazaar excuses for going to
Remed.....
Now what is
Remed ????
It is the name of the junction on NH 6.. which leads to two towns .. Burla and
Hirakud ...
Burla, which is the education hub of the state of Orissa, with a University,
a Medical College and a reputed engineering college, our Alma Mater... UCE...
HIRAKUD, ... which houses ..rather showcases.. the world famous Hirakud Dam...and
also many industrial units like HINDALCO's Aluminium Plant...
Dhabbas @ Remed ..... wow...those getaways.. where guys have discussed n debated
... a whole lot of things, some mundane, some extraordinary and some
outrageous.... over sizzling chicken curry and bottles of errr..umm.. u know
what..... :)
Those were the heady days.. especially the Remed nites.... when the junta..
would sometimes walk the 4 kms to Remed and walk back to UCE at the dead of
night.... with not an iota of grey matter left to think n walk logically.....
That is the 'q' n 'u' friendship that UCE has with Remed. ..
Recent years have seen many challengers like Kantapalli, Durgapalli etc but no
one can usurp the legacy that is Remed.
